The Play Club started in a little yellow house in the heart of Silicon Valley, long before Julia knew she was building it.

Julia grew up with 14 brothers and sisters—if you counted the 12 kids who would show up to her family's 1,000 square foot home every day. Each morning, her mother would roll up her futon bed to transform their entire home into a fully-fledged daycare. A labor of love, yes, but also of survival, as a single mom of three.

Over the years that followed, the community around that little daycare did something remarkable—they pooled together in-kind donations to help Julia's mom found it as a nonprofit. That daycare became a nonprofit. That nonprofit became a community. Julia grew up inside of it—and never forgot what it felt like to be held by something larger than your own household: A true community.

After college she became a preschool teacher, trained in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, spending a decade learning how intentional environments shape children's sense of agency and possibility. She studied how space itself teaches — how light, material, and scale communicate something to a child long before any adult says a word.

Then life took her into tech sales, and she became the working parent who couldn't find what she was looking for. Not a daycare. Not a coworking space. Something in between that didn't exist yet — a place that took her work and her child seriously, at the same time, in the same room.

The Play Club is the culmination of both paths. Julia brings a rare duality to this work: the educator who understands what children need, and the working professional who understands what working parents are carrying. She has lived both sides of this idea. She is building the space she kept wishing existed — a premium coworking and Reggio-inspired enrichment studio where parents lead at their best while their children thrive an arm's length away.

She is rebuilding the village she grew up in, for the Boulder families who need it today.
